CONCEPT:

The animation is the best example of what the magic of cinema can accomplish. Animation has developed over the years and has confronted every single aspect of the entertainment industry and profoundly impact everyone’s life.

It is essential for artists to study animations for their future art career. There is no doubt that animation is playing a significant role in the Entertainment and IT industries. Use of animation that has increased multiple pathways for people to earn a living through creating awesome, original and creative animated videos or short movies. The extent of a career in animation after having an animation course is unlimited, and artists can gain substantial success in this field. Artists must study the skills and understand relevant theories and histories of producing the animation and receive scientific training and so that they can endure a creative job in the creative industry today.

An animator needs to understand the 12 principles of animation. Therefore, we decided to design an animation lesson on Instagram to teach artists the 12 principles of animation on Instagram.

STATEMENT OF NEED:

In their 1981 book, The Illusion of Life, Disney animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas introduced the twelve principles of animation. The pair were part of Disney’s “Nine Old Men,” the core group of animators who were instrumental in creating Disney’s animation style. The twelve principles have now become widely recognized as a theoretical bedrock for all artists working on animated video production.

In order, they consist of:

• Squash and Stretch

• Anticipation

• Staging

• Straight Ahead Action and Pose-to-Pose

• Follow Through and Overlapping Action

• Ease-In, Ease Out

• Arcs

• Secondary Action

• Timing

• Exaggeration

• Solid Drawing

• Appeal

Each principle is vital to the animation process, so let’s dig deeper into each one.
